The East
Wind and the River
One day the East Wind
visited a river that flowed through a small town. They started
talking, and soon they became friends. Days later the East Wind
said, "I'm sorry, but I have to go. I am needed elsewhere."
"If you won't
stay, then I will follow you," said the river.
"No, your place
is here," said the East Wind, and then it quickly blew away.
Yearning to join its
friend, the river followed the East Wind. But with its foolish
pursuit, it flooded the small town.
