The Girl in the Field
One summer day a girl ran barefoot through
the soft grass of a field, enjoying the divine sensations of
the earth. Then her right foot landed on some prickles, which
caused a stinging pain. As the summer passed by, the girl always
kept her shoes on, for the pain from the prickles was entrenched
in her memory. One morning, the girl realized the world was not
as pleasant as it should be, so she took off her shoes. Once
again she ran barefoot through the soft grass, always looking
ahead, but accepting the risks of life.
