The Lonely Crowd and the Grizzly
One day a grizzly bear was hibernating peacefully
in a cave. The Lonely Crowd from the city came to the cave and
woke the grizzly. They talked to her day after day, and they
made her entertain them. The grizzly asked them to leave, but
they wouldn't listen and kept her awake for the rest of the winter.
During the summer, the grizzly was so groggy
from a lack of sleep that she had trouble hunting and fulfilling
her daily tasks. So the next winter she traveled through the
mountains until she found a hidden cave and fell into a deep
sleep. The Lonely Crowd stopped at the grizzly's former home,
but they didn't see her, so they searched all the nearby caves.
They kept searching, but they never saw the grizzly again, and
it made them feel lonelier.
