The
Old Woman and the Forest
In
hopes of enriching her retirement, a woman planned a trip around
the world. To begin her travels, she hiked through an upstate
forest, a place she was aware of but had never visited before.
She planned on sightseeing for a day or two, but as she spent
time in the forest, she found herself returning to the same spots.
For as each hour passed, the forest took on a different life
due to the changes of the light, the wind, and the interaction
of the beings of the forest. The more time she spent in the forest,
the more things the woman noticed - the fall of each leaf, the
sound of an approaching animal, the swirling water in the river.
An infinite world opened up to her. As the days passed into weeks,
and weeks into months, she observed the season's effect on the
forest, and she knew that she could go there every morning and
experience something new and beautiful.
