One day the sun stopped smiling. A chef wanted to cheer the sun up, so she made pasta, garlic bread, and her specialty, cherry pie. Then she started to climb the golden ladder that reached to the sun. She wanted to prepare more of her delicacies for the sun, but this was all she could carry. The chef climbed higher and higher, and she became tired and hungry; but she was determined to make the sun smile again, so she continued to climb. The more she climbed, the hungrier she became, until she reached halfway to the sun and couldn't go any further.

The chef was sad, but she ate her delicious meal and fell into a deep sleep. When she awoke she knew that climbing half the ladder would make her starve again. So the chef climbed down the ladder, and when she reached the earth, she cooked a large meal for her family, friends, and neighbors. They enjoyed the meal, and the chef lived a happy life.
