The Toy Sergeant

In need of glory, a toy sergeant ordered his platoon of wooden soldiers to raid a hill occupied by enemy soldiers. This was a command certain to doom his troops. The soldiers protested, but the sergeant barked threats at them until they charged the hill, where they were ambushed and surrounded. Facing death, the soldiers bunkered in to protect themselves. But the sergeant ordered them to attack, and he yelled until his voice was hoarse. Eventually, the soldiers became sick of the sergeant and taped his mouth shut.

But the sergeant did not stop. He tried to scream, and he huffed and puffed until he began to blow up. Soon he was the size of a hippo and began floating off the ground. As the enemy closed in, the soldiers grabbed hold of the sergeant. Then the sergeant flew high in the sky, and drifted miles away. Safe from harm, a soldier ripped the tape off the sergeant's mouth, and the platoon plummeted to the earth. When the relieved soldiers returned to camp, the army brass reviewed the incident. The soldiers were disciplined, and the sergeant received a medal for leading his troops out of danger.
