An ugly troll was believed to be evil, so he was banished to live under a bridge. To survive, the troll charged a toll to anyone who crossed the bridge. Occasionally someone challenged him, but he beat them, and afterward everyone would be afraid of him for months.

Every day the troll passed the time by painting murals under the bridge. The murals were beautiful and they depicted the people he encountered, but nobody else saw them.

One day the troll became sick and died. When people stopped seeing the troll, they went under the bridge and found his body and all of his murals. Everyone was amazed at the troll's talent, and they wondered why he lived the way he did.
